The
Delta Improvements Package is the first major implementation
package of statewide
significance within the CalFed Bay-Delta Program.
This comprehensive package will provide water supply reliability,
ecosystem restoration, water quality, and levee system integrity
for local Delta users and the broader statewide community. It
finally moves a series of statewide water and environmental projects
from
planning to actual implementation. This package is scheduled
to advance in Fall 2004 and promises to meet the commitment to
balance
called for in Stage 1 of the CalFed Record of Decision, making
it one of California’s most critical water decisions of
the year. The California Water Future, a statewide coalition
of water,
agricultural, business and labor interests, has been organizing
and mobilizing to support the Delta Improvements Package as it
moves through its various approval processes in 2004/2005. More
