Associate Engineer

SALARY:
$36.47 - $46.68 Hourly
$2,917.60 - $3,734.40 Biweekly
$6,321.47 - $8,091.20 Monthly
$75,857.60 - $97,094.40 Annually

DEFINITION:
Under general supervision, performs responsible technical and administrative engineering support work related to planning, design, and construction of engineering projects and performs a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:
This is a professional class in the engineering series. This class is responsible for initiating communications and providing reliable information to engineering and construction management personnel for a range of duties including project management for capital projects, development of budgets, regulatory compliance reporting and reviewing the work of design consultants and contractors to ensure that projects are completed within budget and on time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field is required.
  • Three (3) years of responsible engineering and project management experience in an organization similar to the District.
  • Possession of a valid certificate or registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California (or the ability to obtain registration within 36 months from the date of hire)
  • Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record may be required at the time of appointment.
  • Experience working with an elected Board or Commission is desirable.
