Mark S. Rentz, Director of Regulatory Affairs

Mark S. Rentz joined ACWA in December 2008 as director of regulatory affairs. In his position, Rentz engages with key regulatory agencies to protect member interests and advocate policies that benefit the association’s member agencies consistent with the goals of the newly adopted ACWA Strategic and Business Plan.

Rentz has extensive experience in regulatory advocacy work, both in government and in the private sector. Most recently, he was the deputy director of policy coordination at the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. Prior to that, he served as vice president for environmental affairs and general counsel at the California Forestry Association. He has also worked for American Forestry and Paper Association as the national director of the Federal Timber Sale program, and has held numerous positions with the USDA Forest Service.

Rentz holds a bachelor’s degree in forest management with a minor in business administration from Oregon State University and a law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude and received the Dean’s Special Recognition in Environmental Law.
