Comment Letter: Administrative Draft General Waste Discharge Requirements for Aquifer Storage and Recovery Projects

Dear Mr. O’Brien:

ACWA appreciates the opportunity to provide feedback on the administrative draft General Waste Discharge Requirements for Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Projects (draft Order) prepared by the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (Central Valley Water Board).

ACWA represents nearly 450 public water agencies in California that collectively supply over 90% of the water delivered in California for domestic, agricultural and industrial uses. ACWA and its member agencies’ highest priority is to protect public health while ensuring a reliable water supply for consumers. As the Central Valley Water Board notes in the findings of the draft General Order, “a stable supply of high quality water is critical to the continued welfare, wellbeing, and economic development of California,” and groundwater resources are a key component of this water supply portfolio.
