CIEDM-GreenNet Workshop on Land & Water

California Institute of Environmental Design & Management (CIEDM) in partner with GreenNet Group will host a workshop on the subject of Land & Water. The workshop will start with a presentation by Dr. Edward Huang on the origin & nature of World Water Monitoring Day, National Public Lands Day, National Park(ing) Day, International Day for Ozone Layer Preservation & International Car Free Day (all happened around the week of September 19) in the context of climate change & global warming. Then Dr. Huang will lead a tour of the Arcadia EcoHome, a certified green building w/ a certified wildlife habitat, and then lead a "walkup & pickup" session at the end to pick up trash & pull up weed along the public streets from Arcadia EcoHome to Camino Grove Park via Camino Groave Elementary School. The purpose of the workshop is to promote public awareness of 5 important environmental days. The date of those days are:

  • September 16 - International Day for Ozone Layer Preservation
  • September 18 - World Water Monitoring Day
  • September 17, 18, 19 - National Park(ing) Day
  • September 22 - World Car Free day
  • September 25 - National Public Lands Day

The workshop is a continuous effort for CIEDM & Dr. Huang as a member of CSPN, a National Environmental Education Week's Local Partner, Sierra Club's lead for Cool Cities Campaign for Arcadia, a 1Sky.org's Climate Precinct Capatain, and an Arcadia Beautiful Commissioner to make Arcadia & neighboring communities more cleaner, greener, more livable & sustainable.
