ACWA Presents Emissary Award to Greg Zlotnick
ACWA presented its sixth annual Emissary Award to longtime water leader Greg Zlotnick today during the association's 2011 Fall Conference & Exhibition in Anaheim.
Established in 2006, the award recognizes individuals for remarkable contributions to California water by supporting and advancing ACWA’s goals and is the association’s highest honor for individuals.
Zlotnick, who chairs ACWA’s Groundwater Committee and represents San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority on the ACWA Board of Directors, has a long record of participation and leadership in ACWA, particularly in the areas of groundwater and surface water management.
Most recently, he led a major effort by ACWA to develop a first-of-its kind policy document on groundwater management. Developed by a statewide task force over 18 months, “Sustainability from the Ground Up: Groundwater Management in California” provides an in-depth look at current efforts to manage groundwater basins in California.
Zlotnick also plays an active role in the association’s Ag-Urban II Coalition, providing valuable input and feedback on the Delta Stewardship Council’s Delta Plan.
“ACWA’s Emissary Award is our way of paying tribute to the members who have guided this association and contributed to our successes over the years,” said ACWA President Paul Kelley. “Greg Zlotnick is in a class by himself when it comes to sustained involvement and dedication over the years. We owe a debt of gratitude to Greg for his years of leadership and his unwavering support for ACWA and its statewide interests.”
