EPA Releases 2010-'11 Highlights of National Water Program Climate Change Strategy

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released its third progress report highlighting accomplishments of the National Water Program in 2010 and 2011 related to its Climate Change Strategy.

Published in 2008, The National Water Program Strategy: Response to Climate Change was an initial effort to describe climate change impacts on water programs, define goals and objectives for responding to climate change, and identify a set of key actions that could be undertaken in 2008 and 2009 under level resources. The strategy was organized into five areas: mitigation, adaptation, research, education, and management.

  • Climate Ready Utilities
  • Climate Ready Estuaries
  • Climate/Water Research
  • Encouraging Wastewater Facilities to Consider the Impacts of Extreme Weath-er Events (EPA Region 8)
  • Improving Communication on Water Recycling (EPA Region 9)
  • Participating in the Landscape Conserva-tion Cooperatives (EPA Region 10)
