ACWA Member Featured in Pacific Institute Case Study on Agricultural Water Efficiency

A new case study on volumetric water pricing by the Pacific Institute features founding ACWA member agency Alta Irrigation District and its numerous water efficient practices.

Volumetric Pricing and Conjunctive Use, part of the Institute’s California Farm Water Success Stories series, explores how the district has successfully implemented agricultural water efficient programs with widespread support. The study is one of five new case studies and four video interviews recently added to the series showing how agricultural water stewardship practices are at work on-the-ground, at the farm and irrigation-district level.

All twelve case studies and eight interviews are available online at www.pacinst.org/reports/success_stories.

In addition, the Pacific Institute and other members of the California Roundtable on Water and Food Supply have launched a new interactive database and map, featuring innovative and effective efforts around California to improve on-farm and regional water management.

The interactive database and map is available on the California Agricultural Water Stewardship Initiative site at www.agwaterstewards.org and contains more than 30 case studies – including the Pacific Institute’s success stories – and is searchable by location, production type, irrigation method, and stewardship practice.
