Save Our Water Hosting California-Friendly Garden Exhibit at 2010 State Fair
Californians are learning how to have a beautiful, water efficient garden this summer at the 2010 California State Fair, where the Save Our Water program is hosting a special landscaping exhibit through Aug.1.
Featuring California-friendly plants and flowers and ideas for attractive landscaping, the display is part of the State Fair Farm and highlights Save Our Water’s “Real People, Real Savings” summer campaign to teach fair visitors how to conserve water in their own yards. Water conservation demonstrations, guest speakers and performances are also being offered.
The program is also sponsoring Save Our Water Day at the fair on Tuesday, July 27. The first 1,000 families inside the main gate will receive free bags with Save Our Water posters, decals, seeds and shower timers.
Created by ACWA in partnership with the Department of Water Resources in April 2009, the Save Our Water program is a statewide public education program designed to encourage Californians to make water conservation a daily habit. The program’s spring / summer theme, “Real People, Real Savings,” features everyday Californians who are saving water inside and outside their homes.
“The Save Our Water program is changing the way Californians think about their personal water use,” said ACWA Executive Director Timothy Quinn. “This exhibit highlights how easy it is to conserve water both indoors and outdoors.”
