Draft Delta Economic Sustainability Plan Released

The Delta Protection Commission has released an administrative draft Economic Sustainability Plan aimed at examining the impacts of water policy proposals on the Delta and advancing a vision for the economic sustainability of Delta legacy communities.

The draft plan, prepared by the commission in response to comprehensive water legislation enacted in 2009, analyzes policy proposals in the areas of water conveyance, habitat creation, levees and land use regulation. It also makes specific recommendations on flood protection, recreational investments, agricultural sustainability and other areas as directed by the legislation.

The plan is intended to inform the Delta Plan under development by the Delta Stewardship Council.

A presentation on the draft Economic Sustainability Plan is scheduled for the June 23 meeting of the Delta Protection Commission in Stockton. Meeting details can be found here.
