Roos-Collins Steps Down from List of Delta Stewardship Council Appointees

Delta Stewardship Council-appointee Richard Roos-Collins has withdrawn his name from consideration by a Senate committee after concerns were raised regarding his ability to remain impartial on a plan to restore the Delta.

Roos-Collins, an environmental lawyer in Berkeley, has worked on the Bay Delta Conservation Plan for several years. A coalition of environmental organizations submitted a letter to the Senate Rules Committee protesting Roos-Collins’ ability to remain objective in the process of developing the plan, a main responsibility of the council members, due to his involvement in the BDCP.

The Delta Stewardship Council was created as part of the historic legislative package passed by the Legislature and signed by the governor in 2009. Roos-Collins was one of four members appointed by Gov. Arnold Shwarzenneger; the council has seven total seats.
