Salazar to Visit Bay Area on Sept. 19 to Highlight Federal Efforts on Water
U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will visit Northern California on Monday, Sept. 19, to highlight the Department’s recent efforts to increase water reliability in the state and dedicate a fish screen project by Contra Costa Water District.
During his visit, Salazar will address the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, a distinguished public affairs forum, where he will discuss the Administration’s commitment to helping California secure future water supplies, improve the health of, and spur economic growth and job creation through major initiatives such as the restorations of the Klamath River, the California Bay Delta and the San Joaquin River.
Following his remarks, Salazar will join Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Michael Connor in Oakley for the Contra Costa Water District’s Rock Slough Fish Screen Project Dedication Ceremony. Funded through the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the project is a partnership between the Bureau and the district and advances the Interim Federal Action Plan for the Delta.
