Schwarzenegger Appoints Marcus to Delta Stewardship Council
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger today appointed Felicia Marcus, 54, to the Delta Stewardship Council. She currently serves as western director of the Natural Resources Defense Council.
If confirmed, the Emeryville resident will replace Richard Roos-Collins, who withdrew his name from consideration by a Senate committee July 2 after concerns were raised regarding his ability to remain impartial on a plan to restore the Delta.
Previously, Marcus served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Trust for Public Land from 2001 to 2008 and regional administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from 1993 to 2001.
She worked for the Los Angeles Board of Public Works as a commissioner from 1989 to 1991 and as president from 1991 to 1993. She was director of litigation for Public Council from 1988 to 1989 and an associate attorney for Munger, Tolles, and Olson from 1986 to 1988.
Marcus was a fellow for the Center for Law in the Public Interest from 1984 to 1985 and a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals Ninth Circuit, the Honorable Harry Pregerson from 1983 to 1984. She is a member of the Natural Heritage Institute’s Board of Directors, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s Blue Ribbon Committee, Public Policy Institute of California’s Advisory Board, Urban Habitat’s Board of Directors, San Francisco Baykeeper’s Advisory Board, Center for Diversity and the Environment’s Advisory Board, Kersten Institution for Infrastructure Advisory Board and Sustainable Conservation Advisory Board.
This position requires Senate confirmation. Marcus is a Democrat.
