Judge Wanger Headlines ACWA Conference Luncheon

Attendees of ACWA’s 2011 Fall Conference & Exhibition were treated to a thorough review of key water law cases and their impacts during an address by former U.S. District Court Judge Oliver Wanger today in Anaheim.

Wanger, who retired in September after 20 years on the bench, touched on a range of California water issues he ruled on in the last two decades, from the Endangered Species Act and Central Valley Project Improvement Act to federal water contracts and allocations.

“As a judge, your personal opinions have no place in the courtroom. You are to follow the law,” he said. “That’s why 75 percent of the time I ruled in favor of the environment.”

The conference continues through tomorrow morning with a breakfast forum featuring California Forward Executive Director James Mayer. Learn more.
