CCWD GM to Testify at April 27 Little Hoover Commission Hearing on Tree Mortality Crisis
Calaveras County Water District General Manager David Eggerton will appear before the Little Hoover Commission on April 27 to discuss the impact of unhealthy forests on water supply and quality and how the district is working with regional partners to mitigate the impacts of the current tree mortality crisis that has killed 102 million trees in California.
Other speakers slated to testify during the hearing include representatives from counties, the Department of Insurance, Pacific Gas & Electric, Sierra Pacific Industries, Sierra Forest Legacy and The Nature Conservancy.
The hearing will examine the costs of the tree mortality crisis, insurance issues, the impact on utilities, how the crisis affects private landowners and the environment, and potential policy solutions to ensure sustainable forest management.
The Little Hoover Commission hearing wil be held on Thursday, April 27 at 9:30 a.m. in Room 437 of the State Capitol. Public comments will be accepted at the end of the hearing.
