New WaterSMART Funding Available for Studies

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation announced that funding is now available for water districts, wastewater districts and other agencies in the western states to develop new WaterSMART Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Feasibility Studies.

Reclamation will fund up to $150,000 per applicant. Applicants must provide at least 50% non-federal cost-shared funding for the feasibility study. Studies must be completed by March 2014.

Proposals must be submitted by Feb. 13, 2012. It is anticipated that awards will be made this spring.

This announcement is available online at www.grants.gov.

In 2011, Reclamation provided $3.3 million in funding for 21 studies in California, Oklahoma and Texas  through the WaterSMART and CALFED programs. This year, about $1 million in WaterSMART funding is expected to be available for development of additional Title XVI feasibility studies.
