Oversight Hearing Looks at Delta Package

Implementation of the historic 2009 Delta legislative package was the subject of an oversight hearing yesterday at the State Capitol.

Natural Resources Secretary Lester Snow told lawmakers that appointments to the new Delta Stewardship Council will be announced soon. Appointments to the new Delta Conservancy also are due to be made by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Legislature and the five Delta counties.

New Homes Use 20% Less Water, Study Finds

Homes built in 2009 use 20% less water than homes built in 1990, according to a new report by Stockton-based energy consulting firm ConSol. When the California Green Building Standards Code becomes effective in 2011, the study estimates newly built homes will be 21% more water efficient than their 1990 counterparts.

DWR Releases March Drought Bulletin

The Department of Water Resources has released its monthly drought bulletin, which provides an update on water supply conditions throughout the state. Friday Deadline to Pre-register for ACWA’s Leg Symposium

Third Snow Survey Shows Snowpack at 107% of Average

The results of the Department of Water Resources’ third snow survey of the season today indicate water content in California’s snowpack is 107% of average for the date. At this time last year, snow water content statewide was 80% of normal.

Third Snow Survey Scheduled for March 3

The California Department of Water Resources will conduct its third snow survey of the season at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3 near Lake Tahoe. Results will be available by 1 p.m.
