- Policy Principles:
- ACWA
supports funding beyond the President’s request for
the Bay Delta program, using existing authorities and accounts
of participating federal agencies within the fiscal year 2005
Budget.
- ACWA
supports bipartisan House and Senate legislation to reauthorize
CALFED and balance the Program’s water supply, water
quality and ecosystem objectives (S 1097, Feinstein/Boxer;
and HR 2828, Reps. Pombo, Calvert and Napolitano).
- CALFED
will benefit California and the West by improving the flexibility
of the state’s water system and reducing dependence
on the Colorado River.
- CALFED:
water agencies support language in Section 2019 of the House
WRDA bill (HR 2557) for inclusion in the pending Senate WRDA
bill during 2004. This language would help fund assessment
of the Bay-Delta watershed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
for use in CALFED implementation.
