The District may offer the single open position to a top candidate from either list.


TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Manages projects of intermediate complexity and size from initial planning and design phase through construction and startup. This includes the managing of engineering consultants for projects that utilize outside consultants and the administration of construction contracts.
  • Prepares and tracks project budgets, expenditures and schedules.
  • Assembles and analyzes data, prepares reports and writes letters related to engineering studies and project management and makes presentations to governing boards, civic groups and other organizations.
  • Prepares basis of design reports and detailed specifications for the purchase of equipment and materials, and for the construction of District facilities.
  • Coordinates the preparation of, and checks for conformance to design requirements of, detailed engineered drawings, diagrams, maps or charts for construction projects or for other engineering subjects.
  • Reviews vendor drawings for conformity with specified standards, contract drawings and contract specifications.
  • Develops scopes of work and evaluation criteria for the selection and hiring of engineering consultants for projects that utilize outside consultants.
  • Designs and details concrete, steel and wooden structures of moderate difficulty.
  • Designs pipelines, pump stations, regulator stations, storage tanks and other distribution system components.
  • Performs quantity take-offs and prepares cost estimates for the purchase of equipment and materials, and for the construction of District facilities.
  • Coordinates the District’s design and construction activities with other departments within the District as well as with other appropriate agencies.
  • Reviews a project’s scope of work for compliance with all applicable environmental codes and statutes, e.g., CEQA, and coordinates with regulatory and jurisdictional agencies on obtaining any necessary environmental or jurisdictional permit, required for a project.
  • Coordinates project inspection and reviews inspection reports for the construction of a new District facility to insure that the facility and the materials and equipment used in its construction conform with the contract drawings and specifications.
  • Prepares contract change orders and reviews contractor progress payments.
  • Utilizes personal computer (PC) based software to perform distribution system hydraulic analyses, spreadsheet data analyses, project scheduling, word processing, and other PC software applications.
  • Prepares estimates on the hydraulic capacity of pipelines, water treatment and distribution system facilities (pump stations and regulators), and determines locations of suitable routes for pipelines and sites for facilities.
  • Determines layout and sizing of subdivision water systems and checks subdivision drawings to determine compliance with District requirements.
  • Performs studies on domestic, industrial, municipal and irrigation water use, and performs investigations of water supply (includes water supplies from rainfall and runoff data, imported water supplies from outside sources, and reclaimed water supplies).
  • Coordinates the monitoring of reservoirs and tanks for stability, integrity and maintenance purposes.
