San Luis Canal Company Seeks a General Manager

The Company holds historical water rights off the San Joaquin River and delivers irrigation water and provides drainage to over 300 landowners covering 45,000 acres of highly productive farm land outside of Dos Palos, California. The Company also delivers water under various contracts to local, state and federal refuge lands.

The Company is a member of the San Joaquin River Exchange Contractors Water Authority and receives its water supply under an Exchange Contract with the United States Bureau of Reclamation.

The General Manager shall be of high character, have a strong work ethic, be an effective leader and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.

Working under policy direction from the Board of Directors, the General Manager plans, organizes, directs, and reviews the overall administrative, policy and legal activities of the Company. The General Manager represents the Company’s interests at the local, county, State and Federal level on a variety of policy and technical issues.

The General Manager will also be responsible for all Operation and Maintenance Activities of the Henry Miller Reclamation District #2131 (District).

The General Manager will be responsible for all activities of both the Company and the District. The Company and District annual budgets cover administrative, policy, operations and capital expenditures totaling $7 million combined. The District employs thirty people who will be under the direction of the General Manager.


Must have experience in a progressively responsible professional water utility or agriculturally related business that might include a background in business administration, public administration, civil engineering, etc. Experience could include responsibility for planning, organizing, implementing and supervising programs, budgets and administrative operations. It is preferred that some of this experience shall be at the managerial level and have served in a supervisory capacity.

Compensation and Benefits:

Highly competitive salary and benefits are negotiable based on qualifications. Package does include CalPERS retirement.
