Flood Control, Hydro, & Water Reliability: The Whole Dam Thing!

ACWA Regions 2 & 4 will be co-hosting a program and tour to highlight the importance of Shasta Dam.  Finalized in 1945, Shasta Dam provides vital flood control benefits, hydroelectric power, and water supply reliability for millions of Californians.  Shasta Dam and reservoir also serve as the cornerstone of the Central Valley Project, providing 4.552 million-acre feet of storage capacity. The program portion of the event will cover the history of Shasta Dam as well as its coordinated operations. Following the program, attendees will receive a site visit tour of Shasta Dam hosted by the Bureau of Reclamation.  Preliminary agenda now available.

Tour Information

Due to capacity constraints, we will have two separate tours. The tour of the dam is approximately 1-hour. Attendees must select between two registration options. Both options include a program, tour, lunch and meeting materials but only option (2) includes transportation to Shasta Dam.
