Region 1 Event – Trinity River Watershed Program & Tour: Restoration / Management

Join ACWA Region 1 for a guided 2.5-hour rafting tour of the Trinity River.

Part 1 – Raft trip on the Trinity river

Attendees will have the unique opportunity to tour a portion of the river via rafts with guides (rated Class 1 water) to view several river restoration projects highlighting construction successes, lessons learned and agency cooperation in adaptive management.

Part 2 – lunch & program

Following the tour, attendees will have lunch and a program focusing on watershed management, most specifically, fire as a tool. The first presentation will discuss the science related to the benefits of prescribed fire, landscape and fire behavior challenges as well as new climate patterns. After a short break, the program will finish with a discussion related to watershed management as it pertains to planning, permitting, long-term effects, agency cooperation/collaboration, as well as industry trends and the next steps for the northern California region.
