The public is invited to learn about progress on the Sacramento Regional Water Bank (Water Bank) and plans for 2024 and beyond during a virtual Stakeholder Forum on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The Water Bank is the coordinated operation of a system of groundwater wells, pumps and pipelines that allow local water providers to pump out and refill underground water reserves. The aquifers underlying the Sacramento region have enough capacity to store twice the volume of water as Folsom Reservoir. The Water Bank presents a significant opportunity to address the impacts of climate change on the Sacramento region’s water supplies and the environment.

Registration for the meeting can be found here:  https://stantec.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_GvoOKdQ-TYCTJgBhmdh2cA#/registration

The Water Bank public engagement process aims to share information, address questions and gather input about how a Water Bank could be operated and expanded in the Sacramento region. This marks the third in a series of Stakeholder Forums and provides a unique opportunity to catch up on activities to date and learn about work to come in 2024. Recordings and information from the first two Stakeholder Forums can be accessed here.

Funding for Water Bank development has been provided in part from the Budget Act of 2021 through a grant from the California Department of Water Resources.
