ACWA Executive Director Urges Congressional Support for WIIN Extension by Will Holbert Dec 12, 2018 Water News ACWA Executive Director Dave Eggerton urged support for extending the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act (WIIN) in a Dec. 11 letter addressed to House Speaker Paul Ryan and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi that was also emailed to the 53-member California Congressional Delegation. Specifically, the extension applies to the Act’s California section, subtitle J, and would continue its provisions for at least seven years, authorizing nearly $1 billion for environmental restoration and water infrastructure in the state. The extension is also supported by Gov. Jerry Brown, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy. “This provision reflects a balanced approach to water management that works for fish and the environment, as well as for our agricultural economy and the people of California,” Eggerton wrote.
