ACWA Launches Third Letter Campaign on Federal Relief for COVID-19 Costs by ACWA Staff Jun 24, 2020 Water News ACWA today distributed an Outreach Alert urging member agencies to email members of Congress and request they pass legislation to fund water infrastructure among further measures to help the country recover economically from the COVID-19 pandemic. Including such funding would not only help provide jobs, but address shortcomings within California’s and the West’s aging water infrastructure. ACWA is advocating for a comprehensive water management portfolio in future COVID-19 stimulus packages. This would include management/headwaters protection, safe drinking and clean water, ecosystem restoration, regional and inter-regional water resilience, groundwater, flood protection, and surface storage projects. This is the third recent Outreach Alert asking member agencies to submit letters that will amplify ACWA’s Congressional advocacy. ACWA members with questions about federal advocacy efforts, can email ACWA Director of Federal Relations David Reynolds or call (202) 434-4760.
