ACWA Nominates San Juan Water District Director Pam Tobin for President by San Juan Water District Oct 12, 2021 Member Submitted News GRANITE BAY – The Association of California Water Agencies’ (ACWA) Nominating Committee has unanimously selected San Juan Water District Director Pam Tobin as the Presidential candidate for ACWA’s recommended slate for the 2022-23 term. “I am both humbled and proud to have been recommended by the Nominating Committee to receive its support for President of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA). We have many challenges before us – but also opportunities. I know through the collective expertise and experience of ACWA’s members, we can tackle any problem,” said Tobin. Statewide, more than 40 organizations have expressed their support for Director Tobin to serve as President of ACWA. Director Tobin brings more than 17 years of experience in California water at the local, regional, state, and federal levels. She has served as ACWA Vice President over the past two years and has been active in ACWA for many years, serving as a member of the ACWA Board of Directors, as Chair of ACWA Region 4, and as a member of ACWA’s Federal Affairs and Local Government Committees. She also serves on the ACWA-Joint Powers Insurance Authority (ACWA-JPIA) Board, and its Executive and Liability Committees. In addition to being an elected director at the San Juan Water District since 2004, including four terms as Board President, Tobin has served on the Regional Water Authority / Sacramento Groundwater Authority Board and in its leadership for 16 years. In March of this year, the San Juan Water District voted to support Tobin’s candidacy for ACWA President, noting that Tobin has all of the necessary qualities to be an effective and successful President of ACWA. “Director Tobin has already demonstrated her commitment to ACWA and its members these past two years as ACWA Vice President during an extremely challenging time. She worked to keep members connected and supported during the COVID pandemic. The ACWA membership will greatly benefit from her leadership,” remarked Ted Costa, member of the San Juan Water District Board of Directors. The election for ACWA President and Vice President will take place at the Association’s 2021 Fall Conference on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. during the General Session Membership Meeting. Voting can be done in-person or virtually. San Juan Water District is a regional wholesale and retail water supplier in Sacramento and Placer Counties, providing high quality, reliable and affordable water to 150,000 residents within its service area and to an additional 100,000 residents through sales to neighboring agencies.
