CARB Releases Final Draft Language for Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation by ACWA Staff Mar 29, 2023 Water News The California Air Resources Board (CARB) recently released the final draft regulatory language for the proposed Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) regulation and will be accepting comments through April 7. The ACF regulation would require California fleet owners and operators, including ACWA members, to start purchasing zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) in 2024, with the goal to move California’s medium- and heavy-duty trucks to zero emission, where feasible, by 2045. ACWA staff is currently reviewing the final draft language of the “State and Local Government Fleets Requirements” and is working with the Clean Fleets workgroup to continue to advocate for CARB to provide workable exemption pathways when ZEVs do not meet public water agencies’ fleet needs and to provide more certainty in the process for submitting successful exemption requests. Past ACWA Comment Letters can be found on the ACWA website. More information is available for ACWA members in a Regulatory Alert that was distributed March 27.
