Fellow, Ph.D., who currently serves as the Director of the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District (Upper District), Division 1, was recently declared the winner by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. The uncontested seat for Division 1 will allow incumbent Fellow to serve his 8th consecutive term and make him the longest serving board member in Upper District’s history. First elected to the Board in 1990, Fellow has served 27 years and has an extensive knowledge on local, state and federal water policy issues. He represents Division 1 which includes the cities of Arcadia, Monrovia, Bradbury, Temple City and parts of Azusa and El Monte. Throughout his tenure, Fellow has been a tenacious proponent for drought-proof projects and a more sustainable Main San Gabriel Groundwater Basin. He has explored and introduced new avenues to secure reliable water supplies in the region, encouraged groundwater storage and recycled water projects, and has encouraged ambitious conservation programs. “It is a true honor to continue to serve another term on Upper District and have the opportunity to educate our young people and ensure a long-term water supply for generations to come,” said Director Anthony Fellow. “In my tenure, we have had success in building water recycling projects, and creating one-of-a-kind conservation programs that educate and engage our communities.” Fellow is particularly proud of introducing Upper District’s reforestation project with the U.S. Forest Service in the Angeles National Forest which draws thousands of young people each year who plant new trees and clear streams and waterways. He also proposed in 1991 an annual WaterFest for the community which now attracts some 2,000 to 4,000 residents. As an educator, former reporter of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Fulbright Scholar, and former councilmember of the City of El Monte, Fellow has led distinguished careers both in academia and the water industry. He has served as the Upper District representative and Vice Chair to the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California for 16 years from 1993 to 2009. Today, Fellow serves as a representative on the Board of the Main San Gabriel Basin Watermaster, represents the San Gabriel Valley on the Region 8 Board of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) and sits on the Federal Affairs Committee. ### Upper District’s mission is to provide a reliable, sustainable, diversified and affordable portfolio of high quality water supplies to the San Gabriel Valley; including water conservation, recycled water, storm water capture, storage, water transfers and imported water.
