Materials From ACWA’s Lead Testing & Service Line Inventory Webinar Now Available Online by Emily Allshouse Jan 10, 2018 Water News On Jan. 9, in cooperation with the State Water Resources Control Board, ACWA hosted an informational webinar for public and community water systems that provided updates to requirements for testing lead in the drinking water at California schools and for compiling lead user service line inventories in service distribution areas. The webinar focused on new requirements under AB 746 (Gonzalez Fletcher, 2017), which sets a July 1, 2019 deadline for community water systems to test lead levels in school drinking water. The requirements affect all California public, K-12 schools constructed before Jan. 1, 2010. The webinar provided information that water systems can forward to schools within their service area. During its presentation, State Water Board staff also outlined reporting requirements under SB 1398 (Leyva, 2016) and SB 427 (Leyva, 2017) for community water systems to compile and submit inventories of lead user service lines by July 1, 2018. ACWA has uploaded a recording of the webinar as well as the State Water Board’s presentation on its website here. ACWA members with questions regarding this webinar should contact ACWA Regulatory Advocate Adam Borchard.
