Rancho California Water District Appoints New Board Member by Grace Cardenas Jan 3, 2019 Member Submitted News On Thursday, January 3, Rancho California Water District’s (RCWD/District) Board of Directors (Board) appointed John Rossi as its newest member. Effective immediately, Rossi will fill the vacant seat left by Ben Drake who passed away in November. Six individuals applied for the position. Each applicant addressed the Board to discuss their qualifications and interest. The Board appointed Rossi with a five to one vote. Mr. Rossi has a 28 year career in the Water Industry including serving as the General Manager of Western Municipal Water District (WMWD) for 13 years. In 2003, Rossi was elected to Rancho California Water District’s Board, serving in that role for almost a year before leaving to pursue his career at WMWD in 2004. Rossi was recently awarded the Excellence in Leadership award by the Association of California Water Agencies. Rossi lives in Temecula and has been a RCWD customer for 25 years, raising his family here. “Mr. Rossi brings years of experience and interworking’s with Metropolitan Water District and other wholesale water agencies, said RCWD Board President Bill Wilson. “He brings the knowledge and background that will ultimately help us reduce water rate pressures going forward.” John Rossi will fill the position until the 2020 election. In 2020, the position will be on the ballot for a two year term and then back on the 2022 ballot for the normal four year term.
