Texas Water Association Honors Eastern Municipal’s Sullivan by Eastern Municipal Water District Jun 5, 2019 Member Submitted News The Texas Water Conservation Association (TWCA) recently honored Eastern Municipal Water District Board President Ron Sullivan during the association’s Texas Water Days in Washington, D.C. ACWA, EMWD and other member agencies maintain collaborative relationships with other western states to advance common policy and legislative goals at the federal level. Sullivan was honored for leading the way to forge EMWD’s relationship with Texas, working on common goals such as advocating for integrating Endangered Species Act permitting requirements with other federal mandates to streamline and minimize duplication of permitting efforts and adoption of a Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule. In addition, EMWD is working jointly with TWCA to ensure federal funding for recycled water and potable reuse projects. In honoring Sullivan, TCWA officials presented him with a large cowboy hat during their event. Texas Water Days was held in Washington D.C. in April. The event is a coordinated effort for TWCA members to present top priority water issues currently facing Texas and its water managers to the Texas Congressional delegation, as well as federal agencies and congressional committee staff. ACWA members host a similar effort each year as part of ACWA’s D.C. Conference.
