Water Agencies Join “Imagine a Day Without Water”

More than 700 organizations  — from water agencies to environmental groups to manufacturers to breweries — joined together today to observe “Imagine a Day Without Water” – a nationwide day of advocacy and education led by the Value of Water Campaign.

Organizers say the campaign’s purpose is “to help raise awareness about the severe challenges facing water systems from coast to coast,” which range from aging infrastructure to new threats from climate change.

“It is easy to take our water infrastructure for granted because it is often underground and out of sight. But, the systems that deliver water to and from our homes and businesses require reinvestment and upkeep just like roads and bridges. It is time to take action before we face a nationwide crisis,” said Radhika Fox, CEO of the US Water Alliance and Director of the Value of Water Campaign.

Many ACWA member agencies are participating in Imagine A Day Without Water in conjunction with California’s new statewide designation of a Water Professionals Appreciation Week, which this year runs from Oct. 7-15.  Water Professionals Appreciation Week is designed to honor water professionals who work 24/7 to deliver clean water throughout the state. Please see the links below for further details on some local Imagine and WPAW efforts.
