Subject: AB 249 (Holden): Testing for Lead in Drinking Water at Schools

Position: OPPOSE UNLESS AMENDED

Letter excerpt:

On behalf of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA), I am writing to express our “Oppose Unless Amended” position on AB 249, related to testing for lead in drinking water in schoolsites. The bill would require a community water system (CWS) that serves public or private TK-12 schools, with a building constructed before January 1, 2010, to test for lead in each of the schoolsite’s potable water system outlets on or before January 1, 2027.
