Description

WVWD is seeking a dedicated individual to join the team as a Water Production Operator I or Water Production Operator II. In this position, you’ll become a pivotal part of the Operations team at Walnut Valley Water District.

You’ll perform essential operations, maintenance, and repairs for both domestic and recycled water systems. You’ll troubleshoot issues related to the District’s pumps, electric motors, engines, valves, and more. You will also learn to operate the SCADA system and contribute to the development of accurate records and reports.

This position offers hands-on work in an outdoor environment with opportunities to build your skills and advance within the District.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS

WPO I Level

  • 1-2 years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution facilities.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • SWRCB Water Distribution Operator Grade D3
  • SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade T1 within 18 Months of Hire

WPO II Level

  • 3 years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of water production and storage facilities. Including: gas engines, electric motors, pressure regulating valves, and related telemetering and electronic control systems.
  • High school graduation or equivalent, supplemented by related college-level coursework.
  • State of California SWRCB Water Distribution Operator Grade D3 Certificate required.
  • State of California SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade T1 Certificate required.

DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS

  • SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade T2
  • AWWA Water Quality Analyst Grade 1 Certificate
  • Grade I CWEA Mechanical Technologist Certificate
  • Grade I Electrical & Instrumentation Technologist Certification
