An Equal Opportunity/ADA Employer

The Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA/Agency) is a regional wastewater treatment agency and wholesale distributor of imported water serving approximately 950,000 people across 242 square miles throughout western San Bernardino County.

Reporting to the Deputy General Manager, the Director of Engineering provides executive leadership for an approximately 50-person Engineering Department and oversees the Agency’s Ten-Year, $1.6 billion Capital Improvement Program. The Department manages major water, wastewater, recycled water, and related infrastructure investments from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and transfer to operations, as well as long-term asset management. The next Director will help shape the Department’s future direction through workforce and talent development, organizational improvements, oversight of consultants and asset management, cross-Agency collaboration, and a clear vision focused on accountability and effective project delivery.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned engineering executive with strong technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership experience who can develop staff, build relationships, and communicate effectively with senior leadership and the Board. This is an on-site leadership role.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, or another engineering discipline acceptable to the Agency; at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible engineering and construction project management experience, including at least five (5) years at a manager or supervisory level, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; and California registration as a Professional Engineer. A master’s degree and/or PMP certification are desirable. The Agency is seeking a highly seasoned leader with at least 15 years of progressively responsible experience.

Annual Salary: $238,482.19 – $290,567.06
