The Alameda County Water District, in Fremont, California, is seeking an exceptionally talented engineer to apply and further develop their technical design knowledge and broaden their project management and leadership skills. As an Engineer I/II you will have the opportunity to perform a variety of engineering assignments related to a wide range of water utility infrastructure such as pipelines, pumping stations, water treatment plants, tanks and reservoirs, electrical utility systems, and process control systems. An Engineer I or II may be assigned to plan, direct, schedule, oversee, and evaluate the design and construction of complex capital improvement projects. Work duties are typically broad in scope, and may include: project management for all phases of capital projects including planning, feasibility evaluation, alternatives analyses, economic lifecycle cost analysis, designing, hydraulic modeling, preparing construction drawings, preparing technical specifications, cost estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and environmental permitting of water production, treatment and distribution system facilities; administering and managing various contractor and consultant contracts; coordinating engineering and construction activities with various District departments; and performing other related duties as assigned. Although not required, the ideal candidate is licensed in the State of California as a professional Civil Engineer. Preferred expertise includes pipeline and pump station design and construction, preferably with a focus on potable water distribution and transmission pipeline and pumping systems; public contracting, and experience working with regulatory agencies and the public.

Engineer I (Junior) ($96,121-$116,838 annually) is the entry level in the engineering (Civil) series. Under close to general supervision within a framework of established policies and procedures, incumbents perform a variety of engineering and administrative tasks of limited to moderate difficulty with limited latitude for independent judgment. Assignments are given in specific terms and are subject to frequent review while in progress and upon completion, except where tasks are well defined by established standards, policies and procedures.

Engineer II (Associate) ($111,709-$135,789 annually) is the intermediate level in the engineering (Civil) series. Under general supervision within a framework of established policies and procedures, incumbents perform a variety of engineering and administrative tasks of moderate difficulty requiring the use of some independent judgment and action. Assignments are given in general terms and are subject to periodic review while in progress and upon completion.
