The Alameda County Water District is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer (Engineer I/II) to perform a wide range of duties within the Facilities Engineering Team of the Operations & Maintenance Department. This is an excellent opportunity to apply and further develop technical, project management and team skills. The Mechanical Engineer performs a wide variety of mechanical and process engineering work related to preventive maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, condition assessment, and analysis, design, equipment selection and execution of projects to operate, maintain and improve the District’s water supply, treatment and distribution facilities. The position is also responsible for organizing and leading facility assessment and rotating equipment reliability efforts. Emphasis is on centrifugal pump and piping applications, chemical storage and feed, HVAC, corrosion/protective coatings, and instrumentation/process work.

Work duties are broad and require skills in field testing/troubleshooting, development of engineering equipment specifications and engineering drawings, verbal and written communication, project management, and effective collaboration within a multi-discipline team of engineers and field personnel.
