Annual salary range: $170,000 to $213,000

CPS HR Consulting is partnering with the Amador Water Agency | AWA to recruit an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Agency’s engineering program supporting critical water and wastewater infrastructure across Amador County.

This is a senior leadership role for a licensed California engineer ready to guide complex capital projects and a skilled engineering team in a community-focused public agency.

About the Role

The Engineering Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the Engineering Department, overseeing staff, consultants, and major infrastructure projects. Serving as the Engineer in Responsible Charge, this position sets departmental goals, policies, and standards while ensuring compliance with state and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include planning, designing, and delivering major water and wastewater capital improvement projects, including grant-funded initiatives; reviewing and approving plans and specifications; managing contracts and consultant agreements; and administering operating and capital budgets. The Engineering Manager ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high technical standards.

This role also represents the Agency with external partners and the Board of Directors, prepares technical and administrative reports, and oversees mapping, rights-of-way, and easements, working closely with other departments to meet Agency-wide objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
  • California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license
  • Ten years of progressively responsible engineering experience, including five years in a supervisory or management role
