ACWA was formed over one-hundred years ago and is the country’s largest statewide coalition of public water agencies, a leader on California water issues, and a respected voice for its members in Washington, D.C. and Sacramento. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to join our organization, advocating on the legislative and regulatory fronts for over 400 member agencies. About the Position The Federal Relations Representative reports to ACWA’s Director of Federal Relations and works within ACWA’s Federal Relations Team in Washington, D.C. The position will provide critical advocacy regarding programs associated with water quality and supply, endangered species, watershed management, water management and other related regulations; interpret and communicate the impacts of federal legislation and/or regulations to member agencies; and advocate at Congress and federal agencies for the mitigation of those impacts. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have previous Hill experience, preferably involving the Executive Branch, knowledge of procedures, operations and functions of state and federal regulatory agencies, legislative and regulatory research experience, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of California water policy is highly desirable. Candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in a job related field, with an advanced degree desirable, and a minimum of one year of federal legislative and regulatory relations experience required. Compensation and Benefits Salary range is $89,148 – $127,771, with placement depending upon experience and qualifications. The benefits package includes CalPERS retirement and employer paid medical, dental, and vision.
