Education/Training/Experience: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by college level coursework in water science or a related field. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience working in water distribution, potable water production, water treatment, storage, transmission, or a related field. Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment. Possession of a valid Grade D3 Water Distribution Operator Certificate. Possession of a valid Grade T3 Water Treatment Operator Certificate. Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of appointment, a valid Grade D4 Water Distribution Operator Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment. Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of appointment, a valid Grade T4 Water Treatment Operator Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment. Skills/Abilities Operate and maintain all aspects of the City’s water distribution system, water treatment system, and related facilities and equipment. Operate treatment and blending facilities, monitor trends, and pull water samples. Operate a wide variety of pumping, treatment, control, and transmission equipment, including digital control (SCADA) equipment. Plan, organize, and coordinate the work of assigned staff.
