The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Utilities Department as a Lead Water Operator. We provide a 4/10 work schedule (Mon-Thu) for most positions and rotating schedules for operations staff. Education/Training/Experience:

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by college level coursework in water science or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience working in water distribution, potable water production, water treatment, storage, transmission, or a related field.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of a valid Grade D3 Water Distribution Operator Certificate.
  • Possession of a valid Grade T3 Water Treatment Operator Certificate.
  • Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of appointment, a valid Grade D4
  • Water Distribution Operator Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of appointment, a valid Grade T4 Water Treatment Operator Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment.

Skills/Abilities

  • Operate and maintain all aspects of the City’s water distribution system, water treatment system, and related facilities and equipment.
  • Operate treatment and blending facilities, monitor trends, and pull water samples.
  • Operate a wide variety of pumping, treatment, control, and transmission equipment, including digital control (SCADA) equipment.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate the work of assigned staff.

This position is FLSA Non-Exempt, eligible for overtime compensation.
