The City of Ventura is hiring! We have an immediate vacancy for a Senior Community Outreach Specialist within the City Manager’s Department. Come join our team as we align our workforce to better serve our community together – they’re counting on us.

The Senior Community Outreach Specialist works under general supervision of the City’s Public Information Officer. The Senior Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing a wide variety of community outreach initiatives seeking to create a community dialog between residents and the City. This position has the responsibility for developing and coordinating highly responsible community outreach, marketing, and partnerships designed to disseminate information and engage the community in issues, events, and programs. The Senior Community Outreach Specialist coordinates media relations and provides strategic oversight of website, social media and graphic design functions as key communication tools. Additionally, this position is responsible for organizing and facilitating community meetings and staff trainings on subjects related to civic engagement, community outreach, communications, marketing, and web-based customer service.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to develop and utilize a variety of communication forms, including oral, visual, and written, including public speaking. This candidate will be effective in responding to a wide variety of requests and inquiries from the City and general public regarding community outreach efforts. The ideal candidate will be able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines to ensure time-sensitive projects are completed on schedule. This person will be able to work flexible hours, nights, and occasional weekends, dependent on the needs of specific Department.

Salary and Benefits

The City offers a total compensation package that includes both a generous salary plus excellent benefits!

Salary: $77,730.02 – $104,159.33 Annually DOQ

Qualifications

A combination of training, education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public administration, or a related field, and three years of progressively responsible experience in community outreach, civic engagement, marketing, media, web development, public relations or communications.
