Get Informed. Get Connected.

Taking place at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, this annual event engages water district directors, general managers, attorneys, and staff from across California with up-to-date information on critical water policy issues.  The event will take place on April 10, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. followed by a networking reception from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Topics of Discussion

Groundwater: SGMA Implementation and Legislative Action

In 2014, the state legislature passed the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), establishing a statewide framework to help protect groundwater resources over time. Ten years later, the hard work of implementing SGMA is well underway. Additionally, in recent years, many bills have been introduced related to SGMA and groundwater management. This program will feature experts from across California discussing critical issues surrounding implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and legislative priorities related to groundwater management.

Making Water Conservation a California Way of Life

In 2018, the Legislature passed bills to implement Governor Brown’s vision for water conservation in California. The State Water Board is finalizing the regulatory framework, but concerns have been raised. The Legislature is considering amendments that could impact the ongoing adoption of regulations. This program will discuss proposed regulations and potential legislative effects.
