Throughout 2019, ACWA advanced its policy goals by employing robust advocacy at the state and federal levels. Collaborative work with member agencies proved essential in obtaining positive outcomes at the legislative and regulatory levels.

ACWA member support played a key role in promoting safe drinking water for disadvantaged communities, supporting Bay-Delta solutions, advancing policy on headwaters and forest management, monitoring PFAS information, and staying informed through Public Safety Power Shutoffs. Member agencies also shared their expertise in developing ACWA’s recommendations for the Newsom Administration’s draft Water Resilience Portfolio.

One of ACWA’s internal key accomplishments was the Board’s adoption of a Five-Year Strategic Plan that will afford the association the benefit of a broader forecast of resources, as well as the capacity to align ongoing longer-term goals with shorter-term priorities, ultimately allowing for more direct and positive outcomes on high priorities for the association.
