Desalination Policy Principles Mar 1, 2008 Policy Documents In March 2008, ACWA released its “Desalination Policy Principles,” outlining the importance of desalination of ocean and brackish water as part of a comprehensive water policy strategy. The nine policy principles address the need for balanced water supply portfolios that include ocean and brackish water desalination, regulatory coordination among state agencies, and the need for research and funding related to desalination project, among other issues.
