In May 2017, ACWA released policy principles on “Providing Safe Drinking Water and Protecting Water Quality in California.”

As public agencies tasked with supplying water for beneficial use, ACWA’s members have a strong interest in ensuring the chemical and biological integrity of California’s surface and groundwater resources.

ACWA’s water quality policy principles articulate a vision for providing safe and reliable drinking water for all Californians, promoting watershed stewardship and protection of source water quality, and protecting water quality to maximize beneficial uses and protect public health.
