Attendees will be able to interact with flood-fighting equipment — including the “Claw” and other heavy machinery — as well as helicopters and Police and Fire rescue vehicles. They also can learn how to prepare for storm and flood events at interactive learning stations. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Garcia Bend Park (7654 Pocket Road) and will feature more than a dozen partner agencies, including: •City of Sacramento: Office of Emergency Management Department of Utilities Public Works Youth, Parks & Community Enrichment Sacramento Fire Department Sacramento Community Emergency Response Team Sacramento Police Department Front Street Animal Shelter Recycling and Solid Waste • American Red Cross • California Highway Patrol • County of Sacramento • California Department of Water Resources • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) • US Army Corps of Engineers • US Coast Guard • Reclamation District 1000 • California State Guard • Food Trucks Families and pets are welcome. Registration is not required to attend but helps staff plan for the event.
