This is an eight-week course that it is open to the public on water management. The introductory class is being offered Spring 2019 from March 16 to May 10 at the City of San Diego’s Training Center in La Mesa.  Admittance to the program is not required for this class.

Survey of Water Management Fundamentals and Practice in California

This is an introduction to the water management industry in California. This course covers key concepts and terms of water planning and efficient use of resource development.  Topics include: The California water system and its hunger for energy, differences between water resource administration versus management, sources of future supply, conjunctive use of surface and ground water, program assessment, integrated watershed planning, policy making and implementation in a fragmented governmental system with multiple stakeholders and interest groups.

The instructor for this class is Ken Weinberg, former Director of Water Resources at San Diego County Water Authority.

This is the first of five classes required for the certificate.
