This $330 million project will expand liquid treatment capacity from 16.3 mgd to 22.5 mgd and create a new solids handling facility. Of IEUA’s five treatment plants, RP-5 is located at the lowest elevation and is an end-of-the-line wastewater treatment plant, making it the receiver for any flows that the other plants cannot handle. This project will install cutting edge technology like membrane bioreactors, expand the influent pump station, develop new digester facilities, install two new primary clarifiers, and more! The project is well underway, and tour participants will get to see many of the new facilities that have been built. If time allows, participants will also tour the Chino Creek Wetlands and Educational Park which is co-located with RP-5. The park consists of 22 acres that are landscaped with a wide variety of climate appropriate trees and plants, and a state-of-the-art irrigation management system. Key components of the park are the community education elements about the value of conservation and importance of wetlands in the structure of our environment which weave throughout the site. The park serves as a demonstration site for the community on how to improve water supply, storm water treatment, and water efficiency. A networking lunch will immediately follow the tour. All participants are then invited to participate in the Region 9 Board meeting. Main topics of discussion will include planning of the Region 9 event and the conference membership meeting. The agenda will be posted on the Region 9 webpage here the week prior to the meeting. Questions: Contact Regional Affairs Rep.
