SGA was established in 1998 to manage groundwater within the northern portion of Sacramento County, which overlays a portion of the North American Groundwater Subbasin. SGA was one of the first groundwater management agencies of its kind in California and became a successful model for the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act of 2014. Event highlights include: An entertaining conversation with California Senators Angelique Ashby and Roger Niello, moderated by John McGinness, KFBK radio host (AM 1530 and FM 93.1) and former Sacramento County Sheriff. The trio will discuss the evolution of groundwater management and politics in California and the Sacramento region over the past 25 years. A deeper dive into current challenges faced in water management and the critical role of groundwater with California’s water and policy leadership, including Karen Ross, Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, DeeDee D’Adamo, Vice Chair of the State Water Resources Control Board, and Liz Forsburg Pardi, California Policy Director at The Nature Conservancy. A finale featuring the next generation of water and policy leaders from the California Forward Young Leaders Advisory Council sharing their thoughts on the future of reliable water supplies in California in light of climate challenges.
