The Orange County Water District (OCWD; the District) manages and protects the Orange County Groundwater Basin that underlies north and central Orange County, from which 19 cities and water agencies draw approximately 77% of their water supply. OCWD’s activities to protect the quality of its local groundwater supply include basin-wide groundwater and surface water monitoring, seawater intrusion barriers, and addressing areas with widespread groundwater contamination caused by past industrial activities.

Industrial chemicals have impacted areas in the northern part of the groundwater basin near Fullerton, Anaheim and Placentia, and resulted in the shutdown of 5 production wells. The contamination is spreading and threatens to impact the other parts of the basin. During this webinar, learn how OCWD is working on ways to clean up the pollution in a collaborative effort with state and federal regulatory agencies.

Featured Speakers:
– Dave Mark, P.G., C.HG., Principal Hydrogeologist, Orange County Water District
– Maile Gee, P.G., Engineering Geologist, Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board
